Charlie Cox’s Man Without Fear is the talk of Hell’s Kitchen, following the long-anticipated arrival of Daredevil season 2 this past weekend.
Bringing with it the introduction of The Punisher and Elektra – played brilliantly by Jon Bernthal and Elodie Yung, respectively – those partial to the source material have found that there’s plenty fan service to sink their teeth into. But what about the possibility of introducing additional characters from the comic and, in particular, Bullseye?
The Joker to Batman, Bullseye stands as the arch-nemesis of Daredevil – Colin Farrell played him in the 2003 flick – and recently Cox himself entertained the notion of the villain being introduced further down the line. That is, of course, presuming Netflix and Marvel order a season 3 before delving into the Defenders series. Nevertheless, here’s what the actor had to say on the matter.
“If we are fortunate enough to continue making the Daredevil series, I can’t imagine doing a run of Daredevil where Bullseye doesn’t show up at some point. It would be great to have him around at some point. Who would play that part I have no idea but I just think there’s such an interesting, rich character there, and also of course, the history that Bullseye has with Karen Page is an interesting dynamic. When you read the comics it’s etched in a Daredevil memory all that stuff.”
Elsewhere, Wilson Fisk’s absence has been felt on the streets of Hell’s Kitchen, with the opening episodes of season 2 showcasing the gangs that have risen to power. On a one-to-one level, though, Cox believes there’s still much of the Daredevil-Fisk dynamic untold.
“I’d love us to explore more of the Wilson Fisk stuff. It’d be great if at some point Vincent D’Onofrio would come back for a season. There’s so much Daredevil-Wilson Fisk left untold. As he really came into his own, as Wilson Fisk turned into the Kingpin at the end of season one, I’d love to see what that now does to the Daredevil-Fisk dynamic going forward if we were to do a season 3 or 4.”
Daredevil season 2 is currently available to stream via Netflix and according to our review, it serves up some of the best action sequences and character drama in the show’s brief, yet celebrated history.
