The funny thing about Doctor Who is people either love it or really can’t stand it –  and being remarkably awkward, I seem to fall somewhere in between. Nevertheless, the latest full trailer for the upcoming series has got us all talking.

Being British, I can tell you this is a show that has become a staple in our culture. From the vintage generation fondly remembering Tom Baker’s scarf to teenage girls fawning over David Tennant in his suit-and-trainers combo, Doctor Who has managed to reach across a seemingly endless demographic and find a place within television lore barely touched by anything else.

I watch it, yes, but found that the previous Doctor, Matt Smith, grew tiresome in the role. Yet with Peter Capaldi (who was absolutely fantastic in The Thick of It and In the Loop) taking over the controls of the TARDIS, there is fresh hope that the show will find a new creative spark to mirror its lead time lord’s regeneration. He is the twelfth incarnation of the sci-fi character, who was also recently played by that stalwart of British cinema John Hurt.

The trailer probably won’t sway you if Doctor Who isn’t your thing, but with a T-Rex rampaging through London, why not give it a go?

The new season starts on Saturday, August 23. Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.
