Chris Hemsworth Wants To Do A Team Thor TV Show

We’re now just two weeks and one day away from the release of Avengers: Endgame, which many are predicting to be Thor’s final outing in the MCU. But as we wait to find out if the God of Thunder still has a place in Marvel’s Phase 4, Chris Hemsworth has expressed an interest in bringing the character to the small screen.

Back in 2016, Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi released a short mockumentary titled Team Thor, which offered some (non-canonical) insight on what the hero was doing during the events of Captain America: Civil War. The short was popular enough to spawn two sequels, and when Hemsworth was asked by MTV International if he’d like to make a TV show out of the premise, the actor was enthusiastic in his response.

“I’d love to do that,” Hemsworth said. “I’d love to see Darryl more. I’d love to do a mockumentary TV show of us living together and rooming together and our day to day adventures outside of saving the world, just sort of the regular stuff. I thought that was a lot of fun to shoot and also I think it’d be cool to have a TV show like that yeah. Surfing, fishing, we got a pub, it’d be good fun. Tamed Asgard and get to explore that world.”

Only time will tell if Marvel Studios and Waititi are similarly keen on the idea, but in the meantime, Thor is one of several Phase 1 Avengers without a confirmed future in the franchise. Iron Man and Captain America in particular are widely predicted to be exiting with Endgame, while it remains to be seen whether or not Bruce Banner still has a place in the MCU’s next era.

On the other hand, Black Widow’s long-awaited solo movie is finally hitting theaters next year, while Hawkeye was recently reported to have his own Disney Plus show in the works. Speaking of which, quite a few major Marvel figures are set to make the jump to television, including Thor’s own brother Loki. But before we find out if Thor himself still has any further outings left in him, we can expect to see the God of Thunder in action at least one more time when Avengers: Endgame comes out on April 26th.
