Classic Iron Fist Costume Shows Up In Behind The Scenes Photo

While Daredevil got to sport his classic red costume in the gritty, grounded Netflix series, the other characters haven't been as lucky. Jessica Jones and Luke Cage didn't get to suit up in their shows like they do in the comics (though we did get a few easter eggs that nodded to the outfits), and neither did Iron Fist. That's something which surprised a fair amount of people - before we found out it wouldn't be featured, that is - as his costume isn't that out there that it would have felt silly to see the show.

However, Marvel chose not to include it. At least, not on Danny Rand. Eagle-eyed viewers will know that the classic suit still made an appearance during a flashback showing an older Iron Fist taking down some soldiers. It’s a very brief moment though and one that doesn’t exactly give us the best look at the costume, given that it isn’t even in color. Thankfully, then, we’ve now got a clearer image of the suit that comes from the Instagram account of actor Jonny Yang, who was involved in the scene in question.

Admittedly, it’s still not a great interpretation of the look, but at this point, we’ll take what we can get. Especially since we won’t be seeing Danny suit up in it any time soon. Speaking about why they chose to omit the costume, showrunner Scott Buck recently said the following:

“There was no good reason we could imagine to put Danny Rand in a costume. Because Danny Rand is still discovering who he is as a hero and where he is going to be, so he’s not yet ready to put on a mask or a costume. He is someone who is rather well known as a billionaire, so he can’t necessarily go out in public and do the things he does without being recognized. It does become an issue for the character.”

That certainly makes sense, and at least Buck doesn’t rule out putting Danny in the suit at some point down the road. We agree that he probably wasn’t ready to put it on yet during the first season, but there’s absolutely no reason he can’t don it in The Defenders, or even in the second season of Iron Fist. Whether that’ll happen remains to be seen, but given that the reception to the show has been fairly mixed so far, brining in the classic look, which is something fans would love to see, probably wouldn’t be the worst idea.
