The Clock Is Ticking On New American Horror Story: Apocalypse Poster

American Horror Story has dropped its suitably creepy key art ahead of the new season, which is due to premiere via FX on September 12th.

Trust American Horror Story to turn an everyday household object – like, say, an hourglass – into a demonic talisman not of this world.

Such is the key art for the show’s eighth season. Aptly titled “Apocalypse,” next month’s installment promises to be a dark and brooding exploration of armageddon, and I’d be lying if I said yesterday’s teaser didn’t send a shiver down my spine.

Blending the surreal with the sinister, the footage itself was teeming with potential story clues, and the fact that FX has now unleashed another piece of key art for American Horror Story: Apocalypse tells us that the first full trailer should be online in the coming days.

Until then, here’s a little appetizer:

It’s part of a busy fall slate, too, what with Netflix expected to bring the curtain down on House of Cards (see the official season 6 poster here) and The CW poised to welcome Batwoman into its roster of costumed crusaders. Ruby Rose of The Meg and Orange is the New Black has landed the coveted part of Kate Kane, and she’s “beyond thrilled” to bring another LGBTQ character to the fore.

Circling back to the gothic world of AHS, though, and the powers at FX are welcoming a host of familiar faces, including Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Joan Collins, Cheyenne Jackson, Billie Lourd, Leslie Grossman and Adina Porter. As the show’s eighth season is tinged by witchcraft, both Emma Roberts and Taissa Farmiga are expected to return, too. Series creator Ryan Murphy did say that September belongs to the witches, after all…

Season 8 of American Horror Story triggers the apocalypse on September 12th, and we should have the first full trailer for you to pour over any day now.
