EW is reporting a bit of news that no one could have expected. Coldplay drummer Will Champion will be appearing in the third season of HBO’s hit show Game of Thrones.

No specifics on the role were given but we do know that he’ll have a minor cameo as, get this, a drummer. Don’t get me wrong, I love Coldplay but I’m a bit confused as to how this exactly happened. But hey, if Game of Thrones needs someone to play a drummer, why not get a real one?

And oh ya, if you haven’t heard, Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody will also be showing up in the upcoming season.

Looks like there’s going to be a lot of familiar faces to look out for when everyone’s favorite fantasy show returns this Spring.

Game Of Thrones returns on March 31st, 2013.
