DC TV fans have been waiting years for Matt Ryan to return to the small screen as John Constantine and now, they’ve finally got their wish and it looks like he’s here to stay. Following on from his recent guest spot on Legends of Tomorrow, the release date for the Hellblazer’s much-anticipated animated webseries has been revealed – and it’s right around the corner.

As revealed by Coming Soon, Constantine will arrive on CW Seed on Saturday, March 24th. That same weekend, a world premiere screening of the pilot episode will be unveiled as part of Warner Bros. TV’s presentation at WonderCon in Anaheim. It’s not yet known whether all episodes of Constantine will drop in one go on that date or whether CW Seed will stagger the release across the following Saturdays, but stay tuned for more.

The Constantine animated series follows on from NBC’s live-action show starring Ryan as the occult detective. Despite earning a cult fanbase, the network gave it the chop after only 13 episodes. However, Constantine was soon folded into the Arrowverse with an appearance in Arrow‘s fourth season. As for how this new show will compare to NBC’s effort, it’s been teased that the animation will hew a lot closer to the source material from Vertigo Comics and will be much “darker” than the live-action series.

Before his animated series airs, though, Matt Ryan is due back on Legends of Tomorrow for its upcoming 15th episode, titled “Necromancing the Stone.” Not only that, but the character will return a couple of weeks later, as well, helping the Waverider crew out in the currently-untitled season 3 finale, which promises to be full of notable guest stars, including Jonah Hex and former Legend Jefferson Jackson.

In short, it’s going to be a very good few weeks for Constantine fans.
