Crisis On Infinite Earths Will Be A Five-Hour Event

In previous seasons, each Arrowverse crossover has been rather straightforward in format. At first, only Arrow and The Flash participated, but the situation became more complex as the brand kept growing. To accommodate, the network would either air the encompassing arcs on successive nights, or do their best to pair the shows together so that complete tale be told in two evenings.

But when it comes to “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” it appears as though we have a much different situation on our hands. Seeing as how it’s based on one of the biggest and most impactful limited series in the history of comics, The CW realizes this will be a large responsibility.

Per today’s upfronts, we now know that five shows will be included in the crossover, those being Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman. What’s also particularly intriguing to learn is that it’ll air over the course of two quarters, so it sounds like we should expect a winter cliffhanger.

If that’s the case, then “Crisis” should serve as the basis for several shows’ midseason finales. Though we already know that Oliver Queen is fated to die, I really hope Arrow’s series finale isn’t part of this. Maybe it’s just me, but a show that paved the way for several others and lasted for eight seasons deserves a proper sendoff.

It should also be noted that Legends of Tomorrow won’t premiere until the midseason mark (2020), so it’s fair to think that “Crisis on Infinite Earths” will greatly affect that series going forward. You have to admit the layout of this whole affair is leaving a lot of room for speculation, so let’s hope someone in charge fills in the blanks before long.
