Today, we learn that dreams can come true as CBS and The CW have worked out the logistics allowing for a crossover between The Flash and Supergirl. Rumors have been swirling over the past few months and now we can finally confirm that Grant Gustin’s version of the Scarlet Speedster will make his way to National City during the March 28 episode of Supergirl. As of now, details regarding the plot have yet to be disclosed.

The Flash and Supergirl Executive Producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg had the following to say concerning this momentous occasion:

“We are so incredibly excited to announce something that we have dreamed of happening since we starting making Supergirl – The Flash and Supergirl are teaming up! We want to thank Grant Gustin for making the time to come visit (on top of his already immense workload) and all of the folks at CBS, The CW, Warner Bros. and DC for working this out. And finally thanks to the fans and journalists who have kept asking for this to happen. It is our pleasure and hope to create an episode worthy of everyone’s enthusiasm and support.”

Superhero crossovers are obviously nothing new at The CW, but we must indeed applaud whomever was able to make this happen. Despite CBS having a stake in The CW and both shows sharing many of the same producers and executive producers, there had to be a bit of red tape to cut through.

Fans may remember The Flash and Supergirl ran TV spots for the other show during their respective broadcasts earlier this television season, so maybe conversations have been taking place for awhile. Perhaps we will now hear Supergirl – or even Superman – be name dropped during future episodes of The Flash or Arrow and vice versa.

Supergirl airs Monday nights at 8:00 pm EST on CBS.
