Marvel and Netflix’s latest motion poster for the upcoming second season of Daredevil injects a definite horror vibe into to the usual superheroics, as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen is dragged down to a place that his namesake should really feel right at home in.

We’ve had quite a few hints that a supernatural element was going to be introduced to the show this season, and here we have our strongest bit of evidence yet. The numerous hands gripping the Man Without Fear are surely supposed to represent The Hand, a mystical clan of ninja assassins that derive their powers from supernatural means, and worship a particularly nasty demon known only as The Beast.

Now, while it’s unlikely that we’ll actually see anything like a giant monster rising from the ground (check out Frank Miller’s Elektra: Assassin), all signs do point to The Hand being involved in some very dark dealings, and there’s foreboding references to an “ancient evil” being unleashed in the most recent promo material.

So yeah… watch your back Murdock.

Daredevil season 2 will be available to stream on Netflix from March 18.
