Filming is well underway in Hell’s Kitchen as Marvel and Netflix make progress on the much-anticipated Daredevil season 2, and today Just Jared has unearthed a series of photos from the NYC set that showcase Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle – aka The Punisher – looking a little worse for wear.

While they’re not quite as action-packed as those snaps that hit the interwebs last week, today’s stills offer up a nice peak behind the curtain on the show’s sophomore season. Fresh off of holding up some goons, Bernthal’s formidable character appears to be tracking a pair of crooks who have seemingly stolen a dog, and judging by those bloody knuckles and ice-cold stare, we can’t imagine they got very far. If looks could kill.

There’s still no sign of the iconic skull logo on Franke Castle’s shirt, though, indicating that Daredevil season 2 may roll out a similar character arc to that of Matt Murdock and keep Castle’s armor under wraps until the tail-end of the season, allowing audience excitement to build up naturally, rather than shoehorning in a money shot early on.

Casting for the role of The Punisher was always going to be a difficult butterfly to pin, but it appears Marvel has landed the perfect actor in Jon Bernthal. The Walking Dead and Fury star has showcased the screen presence and gravitas needed to embody such an iconic villain, and former showrunner Steven DeKnight has hinted that this interpretation of the big bad is “the Marvel version” of Frank Castle. The question now is, how long before Castle and Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock lock horns in Daredevil season 2?

Charlie Cox will stalk the streets of the Big Apple as the titular vigilante once more when Daredevil season 2 graces Netflix in early 2016.
