Daredevil Season 3 Featured A Reference To Both Spider-Men

In episode 12, “One Last Shot,” one scene sees Karen Page arrive at Nelson & Murdock’s makeshift office in the closed-down Fogwell’s Gym. Behind her can be seen a poster for an old match between a couple of boxers named Parker and Morales. There’s no way these names are just a coincidence, and they must’ve been placed there as a homage to the famed Marvel heroes by set designers having some fun.

It’s fitting that it should be two Spider-Men that the show references, too, as everyone – including Charlie Cox – wants to see Daredevil team up with the wall-crawler on the big screen. The two heroes have a long history in the comics and it’d be fun to see that brought to life in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Unfortunately, though, our hopes have been dashed every time the possibility of the Defenders appearing in a movie has been brought up.

If not Daredevil, then fans would be equally happy to have Tom Holland’s Spidey face the Kingpin in the MCU instead. The character’s just as much part of Spider-Man’s rogues gallery as Daredevil’s and Vincent D’Onofrio himself is all for it. It’s not like the guy isn’t a big movie star, either, so he’d be right at home in a Marvel film. Even in just a cameo role.

In any case, at least Peter Parker and Miles Morales will battle Wilson Fisk outside of the Marvel Studios franchise quite soon in Sony’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Liev Schreiber’s voicing the character in place of D’Onofrio and while the film looks like a lot of fun, let’s hope this easter egg isn’t the last Spider-Man/Daredevil crossover we get in the MCU.
