Arrow comes to an end this year with its abbreviated eighth season, but fans have a lot of things they want the series to wrap up before it goes. One major thing is finally confirming the long-running fan theory that John Diggle is a doppelganger of John Stewart, the Green Lantern. This notion has been around for years, but it started to creep its way on screen in last year’s “Elseworlds” crossover, which hinted at there being another Diggle with a Power Ring somewhere in the multiverse.
If this is confirmed in Arrow season 8, though, it’d be pretty huge. So huge that Diggle could even get his own Green Lantern spinoff series, right? Perhaps, as ComicBook.com asked the actor how many times he’s knocked on Arrow EP Marc Guggenheim’s door over the years to talk about it. Ramsey confirmed it’s happened a lot, though said that it’s still a thorny situation.
“I cannot tell you how many times. But really, I don’t have to knock on Marc’s door. He’s been incredibly forthright with letting me know the plan, and letting me know some of the politics behind it. Green Lantern is a tremendously large property, and it’s not easily done. If it was done on TV, imagine the cost. So it’s one of those things where it’s going to take a great deal of preparation if and when it’s ever done.”
While Ramsey raises some very good points here about the practicality of producing a Green Lantern show, or at least bringing the Corps into the Arrowverse, his comments should bring hope to fans. After all, he appears to confirm that there is some sort of plan to get Diggle a Power Ring and that “a great deal of preparation” has been done towards that goal.
This could corroborate intel We Got This Covered has previously revealed as well. For one, we’ve heard that Diggle will become a Green Lantern in the big “Crisis on Infinite Earths” event, which is making DC lovers’ dreams come true in so many ways. Secondly, we’re told a GL show has been pitched to The CW. Whether it’s actively in the works, though, is unclear at this time.
