Making content for people to consume can be an emotional experience on even the tamest of days, and making Star Wars content like Andor is on a whole other level. People have loved the grit of the show since its premiere last year, and, now star Diego Luna has revealed while the show is beautifully written in his view, the death of a certain character took a lot out of him when filming it.
For those who have not seen the show, Cassian Andor’s mother Maarva dies during the show and her pre-recorded eulogy ultimately inspires people to take up arms against the Galactic Empire. While talking to the Los Angeles Times for their “Drama Roundtable” YouTube series earlier today, Luna says he nearly lost it.
“I had to stop myself from just like crying nonstop and not being able to do it. It was so strong. Suddenly, everything that connects me with the character was there. It became so much like my moment …there was no way to not connect like that.”
Luna followed up his initial comments by saying one of the keys is forgetting you are doing a Star Wars project and others at the gathering like Bella Ramsey and Jeremy Strong were impressed by his remarks and in the comments one fan concurs heartily.
“Diego working in a language foreign to him and gifting us the most grounded performance that the Star Wars saga has gave us in decades, it just proves the amazing work he done in Andor.”

Luna will get the chance to test himself more when the show’s second and final season comes out next year. It is being eyed for an August premiere date, and will have a similar amount of episodes before it directly leads into the events of Rogue One. Here, we got to first meet Andor, and, thanks to the magic of television we’ll get to see how he became who he was before death.
