So, which one of these speedsters will be in season two of The Flash? We have our first clue from the season finale – that familiar winged metal helmet comes flying out of the wormhole and lands on the ground. We all thought it was just a cool easter egg, but, spoiler-alert, The CW announced casting news at the Warner Bros Television Hall H panel in July at Comic-Con, which confirmed the character would be making a flesh and bones appearance on the show.
Teddy Sears (Masters of Sex) will take on the mantle of the Crimson Comet from Earth 2. The description from The CW of the character only says the following:
“Jay is a mysterious figure who arrives in Central City to warn Barry Allen and his team at S.T.A.R. Labs of an impending danger that he alone cannot hope to stop.”
We know that he’ll be in costume at some point from the helmet in the finale, but we don’t know if this Barry Allen read Jay Garrick Flash comics in the show’s world, or if he’ll realize who this Jay is.
[zergpaid]Talking about the addition of the original Flash to the hit CW show, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said:
“Having Jay Garrick come onto the show was one of our earliest ideas. It is so exciting, as we rush into season two, that we finally get to bring the Crimson Comet to life. We couldn’t imagine anyone more suited to play the original Flash than Teddy.”
Additionally, the executive producers revealed that the big bad for season two would be Zoom, another character from Earth 2. One final detail revealed at that Comic-Con panel was that Wally West AKA Kid Flash would also make an appearance at some point in the season, with Keiynan Lonsdale cast in the role.
The addition of these heroes and villains from an alternate Earth really open up the possibilities for who we might see on The Flash this year, and we’re expecting big things from the show’s sophomore outing. We’re sure that the producers still have a few surprises up their sleeves as well, so stay tuned for more news as we’re sure to get further updates in the lead up to the season premiere.
