Donald Glover Dives Into The Atlanta Music Scene In Latest Trailer For FX Dramedy Series

Donald Glover has carved out a career in the music industry under the stage name Childish Gambino, and has enjoyed remarkable success while doing so. Having broke onto the scene via Community, Glover is undoubtedly a man of many talents, and his latest creative venture ought to please fans of both his musical and acting careers.

It’s called Atlanta, an all-new musical comedy that’s set to chronicle the story of two cousins – one of which being Glover himself – who want nothing more than to break into the city’s local music scene. Less rags-to-riches and more an intimate drama with brilliant music, the latest trailer above showcases the ways in which Glover’s passion project effortlessly captures the spirit of Atlanta. Tokyo-born music maestro Hiro Murai helmed all 10 episodes of Atlanta, having previously collaborated with Glover/Childish Gambino on a number of music videos. Brian Tyree Henry, Keith Stanfield and Zazie Beetz round out the preliminary cast.

FX will host a two-episode premiere of Atlanta on September 6, before the remaining 10 episodes are rolled out incrementally. .

In Atlanta, two cousins work through the Atlanta music scene in order to better their lives and the lives of their families. “Earn Marks” (Donald Glover) is a young manager trying to get his cousin’s career off the ground. “Alfred Marks” (Brian Tyree Henry) is a new hot rapper trying to understand the line between real life and street life. “Darius” (Lakeith Lee Stanfield) is Alfred’s right-hand man and visionary. “Vanessa” (Zazie Beetz) is Earn’s best friend and the mother of Earn’s daughter. Glover serves as Executive Producer, along with Paul Simms and Dianne McGunigle of MGMT Entertainment.
