Sons Of Anarchy Alum Drea De Matteo Joins Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.

It looks like Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. has gained another potentially Inhuman cast member in the form of The Sopranos and Sons of Anarchy alum, Drea de Matteo. The Emmy Award-winning actress will appear in an unspecified upcoming episode as Karla Faye Gideon, a “gifted woman with a grudge to bear against S.H.I.E.L.D., who joins forces with Skye’s father.” The role will reunite Matteo with her former Desperate Housewives co-star, Kyle Maclachlan, who plays Skye’s father, Dr. Calvin Zabo.

Karla Faye Gideon is a name that hardcore Daredevil fans will recognize from the Daredevil: Redemption limited series by David Hine and Michael Gaydos. There, she was a victim of domestic violence and the mother of a murdered child, whose decision to stand by her husband put her at odds with the Man Without Fear. There’s no telling at this time if any of those character traits will be adapted for Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., or if de Matteo will show up someday on the Daredevil Netflix series, but it’s definitely a possibility.

While not directly described as an Inhuman, the notion that de Matteo’s character will be “gifted” certainly hints at the possibility. Add in the fact that she’ll have a connection with Calvin Zabo, who has been reimagined on the series as a possible Inhuman, and that likelihood becomes even stronger.
