Max’s upcoming series, Dune: The Sisterhood, will still resume production despite the ongoing writers’ strike and impending actors’ strike.
Production on the the Dune prequel will be picking back up in Budapest “any day now,” since most of the cast are “equity contract actors.” This means that those working under those contracts can resume their duties and will be obliged to “report in,” via Deadline. This is one of many issues that this upcoming TV show has faced since its showrunner left last year and its director and one of its lead stars departed back in Feb. 2023.
While this Dune prequel has faced numerous issues, the upcoming and ongoing strikes should not affect Dune: Part Two, as production began back in July 2022 and Timothée Chalamet announced that filming had wrapped in Dec. 2022 on Instagram.
Dune: The Sisterhood will follow in the footsteps of House of the Dragon and Industry, as both shows have announced that they will resume production despite the strikes, thanks to a similar circumstance involving their cast members. This Dune prequel is based on the novel Sisterhood of Dune by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson and is set 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides.
The series is set to star Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, and Mark Strong. Despite numerous crew members leaving the project, it has been revealed that former Westworld and Jessica Jones director Anna Foerster will helm the show.
As of right now, Dune: The Sisterhood is scheduled to be released on Max sometime in 2024.
