After disappointing third and fourth seasons, it was clear that Arrow had to do something to shake things up in season 5. For those of you unfamiliar with the source material, Vigilante – SPOILER ALERT! – is secretly Adrian Chase, a character who we’ve already been introduced to in Arrow this year. He’s the new District Attorney and an ally to Mayor Oliver Queen who doesn’t seem overly keen on costumed crime fighters, so this promises to be an interesting development for him.

For more on what to expect from next week’s episode of Arrow, here’s the official synopsis:

When the bodies of two criminals are dropped at SCPD, Oliver (Stephen Amell) realizes there is a new Vigilante in Star City. The team is split about whether they should stop someone who is helping keep the city safe. Diggle (David Ramsey) is frustrated with his new situation and Thea (Willa Holland) fights for Lance (Paul Blackthorne) who confesses a shocking secret. Meanwhile, in the flashbacks, Oliver finally sits down with Konstantin Kovar (guest star Dolph Lundgren).

Whether or not Vigilante will end up joining Team Arrow remains to be seen, but it appears as if his methods aren’t sitting well with Oliver. Despite the fact that he’s also been utilizing some more brutal methods this year, Vigilante killing criminals and dropping them off at the Star City Police Department seems to be a step too far for the hero. Regardless, we’ll see how it all plays out next week when Arrow returns to The CW.
