New Luke Cage Season 2 Photo Teases The Heroes For Hire

Back in August, The Defenders finally arrived on Netflix. It'd been a long road to the miniseries, one that started back in 2015 with the first season of Daredevil. Since then, we've also had solo outings for Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, and though some were better than others, it's fair to say that the much anticipated team-up show was slightly underwhelming after all that waiting. Still, there were some highlights and one of those was seeing Luke and Danny working together.

Back in August, The Defenders finally arrived on Netflix. It’d been a long road to the miniseries, one that started in 2015 with the first season of Daredevil. Since then, we’ve also had solo outings for Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, and though some were better than others, it’s fair to say that the much anticipated team-up show was slightly underwhelming after all that waiting. Still, there were some highlights and one of those was seeing Luke and Danny working together.

As you probably know, in the source material, the two heroes join forces to form a separate team known as the Heroes for Hire, and we’ve already heard that this is something former Game of Thrones alum, Finn Jones, would be interested in seeing happen at some point. To date, there’s been no word of Marvel producing a separate spinoff for the duo, but Jones might just get his wish – to some extent – as a brand new still from season 2 of Luke Cage teases the splinter team.

Check it out in the gallery below, along with another photo from the upcoming season that surfaced a while back.

While we still don’t know how large of a role Iron Fist will play here, having confirmation that he’ll indeed be showing up is certainly exciting. Like we said above, seeing him and the Power Man working together in The Defenders was a real treat for fans. His appearance in season 2 of Luke Cage could be due to something minor, of course, and he may not stick around for long, but we’ve got a feeling it may be laying the seeds for a potential Heroes for Hire spinoff somewhere down the road.

Luke Cage season 2 is now shooting in NYC ahead of an expected release next year. Also in the pipeline are new seasons of Daredevil and Jessica Jones, while Iron Fist has been renewed for its own sophomore outing, despite those fairly lukewarm reviews.
