In what may be considered a slight spoiler for The Defenders, below you’ll see Simone Missick’s daughter of the dragon standing alongside Harlem’s Hero For Hire (Mike Colter) replete with her prosthetic arm, which was given to her following that stomach-churning clash between Misty and Ramón Rodríguez’s big bad, Bakuto. He’s one of the high-profile members of the Hand, a Hydra-like organization that has extended its tentacles of corruption into every major corporation in New York City, beginning with Midland Circle.

As those who’ve already caught all eight episodes of The Defenders will know, Misty Knight’s arc in the Marvel/Netflix ensemble series ends with her in hospital. Flanked by Danny Rand (Finn Jones) and his kick-ass ally Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick), Simone Missick’s character will be fit and ready by the time Luke Cage season 2 rolls around in 2018. Not only that, but she’ll be packing some serious firepower.

In the Marvel comics, Misty’s prosthetic was built in the bowels of Stark Industries, and imbues its owner with superhuman strength and a host of other abilities (see: gravity-altering energy fields). Whether the Powers That Be over at Marvel and Netflix will remain loyal to the source material is another question entirely – Misty is still carrying a firearm in today’s first-look pic, for what it’s worth – but if nothing else, subscribers can look forward to a suitably badass upgrade for the NYPD detective come 2018.

Luke Cage season 2 is now shooting in NYC ahead of an expected release next year. Also in the pipeline are new seasons of Daredevil and Jessica Jones, while Iron Fist has been renewed for its own sophomore outing, despite those fairly lukewarm reviews.
