First Plot Details For The Lost Boys TV Show Surface

With The CW gearing up to begin production on their upcoming Lost Boys TV show, we now have some new plot details to pore over.

The Lost Boys

The CW, a network that currently has its hands full with its extensive superhero slate, is looking to branch farther out into bloodsucker territory, as a small screen reboot of The Lost Boys is on the way. Before you dab your brow in anticipation of a “why are they rebooting my favorite movie EVER?!” rant though, just wait, as plans for the show actually aren’t as dour as they might seem.

For one, we know that former Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey and Kingdom alum Kiele Sanchez will be headlining the project, while Medalion Rahimi (Still Star-Crossed) and Dakota Shapiro (Valley of the Boom) will also have major roles in the series. Not only that, but Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke will be getting behind the camera for the pilot and the script was penned by scribe Heather Mitchell (Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy), whose draft apparently got “everyone excited” and eager to pump new blood into the long-dormant franchise.

All in all, it’s an interesting roster of talent, and now, we have some plot details for the pilot to pore over, and as you can see below, they hew pretty close to the original film.

“After 25 years away from home, Lucy Emerson (who is at the end of her financial rope) returns home to the small California beach town of Santa Carla, to live with her father Frank and teach at the local high school. But Lucy either doesn’t know or doesn’t share the town’s big secret with her two sons, Michael and Sam: Santa Carla has a nest of vampires secreted inside the city limits, and they are getting hungrier by the day.”

At the moment, it’s unclear whether the summary above encompasses just the pilot, the entire season or if it’s merely a jumping off point and The Lost Boys TV show will forge its own path and deviate from the source material. Regardless, it’s nice to finally get an idea of what’s in store and with production set to begin soon, we should learn more in no time at all.

It’s been a long time coming for the classic vampire project, to be sure, but with The CW already bringing us the likes of Riverdale and Jane the Virgin, it’s nice to see that even after all these years, The Lost Boys is still very much a part of the horror scene.
