The Arrowverse event of the year kicks off this weekend as The CW’s big three-night crossover “Elseworlds” unites the heroes of The Flash, Arrow and Supergirl. A variety of promos have teased the multitude of awesome things to come but, simply put, the premise of it is that Barry Allen and Oliver Queen wake up one day with each other’s lives.
We’ve seen bits of this concept in action before but this new sneak peak gives us our first clip from the crossover, and features Barry and Oliver – but which is which? – talking their strange predicament over. Taking place in the Arrowcave, the pair have very different approaches to the problem at first before mutually deciding that something needs to be done to fix it.
Initially, Barry – that’s the guy usually known as Barry, played by Grant Gustin – is delighted to find himself with the life of the Green Arrow, while Oliver – er, you know, Stephen Amell’s character – desperately wants to get his own identity back. Barry soon feels the same way, though, when Ollie lets slip that he woke up in bed with Iris.
As much as we enjoy all the madness associated with an Arrowverse crossover, one of the best things about all of them has been seeing Barry and Oliver come together. Gustin and Amell work so well with one another as there’s a real “odd couple” dynamic to their friendship and they’re a ton of fun to watch on screen.
But it won’t just be all about the Flash and Green Arrow. Elsewhere in “Elseworlds,” Batwoman will make her debut, Superman returns, Lois Lane joins the Arrowverse, John Wesley Shipp is back as the original 1990s Flash…the list goes on and on.
Don’t miss “Elseworlds” when it starts with The Flash on Sunday, December 9th (ignore the teaser above, it’s not on tonight), as it’s sure to be unforgettable.
