The Flash Season 4 Photos Offer Up Our Best Look Yet At Barry’s New Suit

It's all going to change for Barry Allen on The Flash season 4. After his spell in the Speed Force over the summer, the Scarlet Speedster will return to Central City a new man. In light of criticisms over the treatment of his character in the last run, the writers have taken on board what the fans had to say and have brought Grant Gustin's portrayal more in line with the comic book hero. At least, that's what we've been promised ahead of the season premiere next week.

Another thing that will be different this year is the Flash’s costume. In place of the more maroon version Barry’s been wearing for the past few seasons, his new duds are a much brighter shade of red with some fancy gold detailing. Previously, we’ve seen glimpses of the suit here and there, thanks to the odd promo image or leaked set photo. Now, however, we have our best look at the outfit yet with this new batch of stills from episode 2, titled “Mixed Signals.”

After rediscovering himself in the premiere, it looks like Barry will waste no time in getting back in action. The photos show him suited up alongside his sidekick Kid Flash (who’s also sporting a new ‘do). Cisco’s kind-of girlfriend from a different dimension, Gypsy, is also back for the episode. Plus, Iris looks to be a bit tougher this year, as evidenced by her wielding a big sci-fi gun. This fits in with what we’ve heard about Ms. West’s increased role in season 4.

Here’s the synopsis for the episode, which airs on October 17th.

BARRY AND IRIS GO TO COUPLES THERAPY — Barry (Grant Gustin) has his hands full when he takes on a dangerous meta (guest star Dominic Burgess) who can control technology, while also confronting an obstacle in his personal life: the ramifications of abandoning Iris (Candice Patton) for six months to balance the Speed Force. Meanwhile, Gypsy (guest star Jessica Camacho) breaches in for a hot date with Cisco (Carlos Valdes), but she gets annoyed when his work keeps them apart. Alexandra La Roche directed the episode written by Jonathan Butler & Gabriel Garza.

The Flash returns to The CW in “The Flash Reborn” (not “Rebirth”) next Tuesday, October 10th.
