The Flash Season 5 Will Reveal The Truth About Killer Frost

Though The Flash‘s fourth season did a fine job of tying up the Thinker’s arc, there were still some threads left dangling after May’s finale. And no, we’re not talking about what’s to come with Nora Allen-West, but rather, the developing situation involving Caitlin Snow.

If you’ll remember, one of our favorite stalwarts lost connection to her Killer Frost alter ego late last season, but as it turns out, she has memories of using her powers as a child. Therefore, the particle accelerator explosion was not the cause of her metahuman abilities.

But if you thought she was born this way, then you’ve got another thing coming.

According to TV Guide’s latest Comic-Con Special, the truth surrounding Ms. Snow will be revealed in the not too distant future. In fact, executive producer Todd Helbing says this curveball will be “a huge thing,” and that Team Flash will spend some time “searching for how this could possibly be, then [learning] the reasons why and who did it to her.”

Right now, it wouldn’t be the wildest assumption in the world to think Caitlin may have some sort of connection to season 5’s big bad (Cicada has been rumored), as it would make the next year’s worth of storytelling more personal to her. If not, we’re still highly intrigued as to what Helbing and his colleagues have up their sleeves.

Another detail to ponder over is that actress Danielle Panabaker is set to direct an episode very soon, so she may want to take the wheel whenever that big Killer Frost reveal comes. Then again, she may wish to lessen her character’s role for that particular installment because sometimes performers don’t like overextending themselves. In the end, it’s her choice.

The Flash returns for its fifth season on Tuesday, October 9 on The CW.
