The Flash’s Grant Gustin Discusses Barry And Iris Having A Baby

As the West-Allen family continues growing in the strangest of ways, it shouldn’t have come as a shock to any when Jessica Parker Kennedy was announced as being the latest to sign on as a series regular, thus assuring that we’ll be seeing much, much more of Nora, Barry and Iris’ daughter from the future, in The Flash‘s fifth season.

Originally having been introduced during last fall’s crossover event, Crisis on Earth-X, Nora confounded viewers and press alike, reappearing at various points throughout the season. Being dubbed “the Mystery Girl,” she eventually revealed her true identity in season 4’s finale – and that, much like her father, she apparently enjoys the pastime that is screwing with the timeline.

Given all this, it stands to reason that, at some point, Barry and Iris will put on some Marvin Gaye and do what mommies and daddies do when they love each other (we’ll tell you what that is once you’re older). I mean, come on, for there to be a Nora in the future, there’s going to need to be a baby version of her at some point, right?

Well, here’s what lead actor Grant Gustin had to say at ACE Comic Con in Seattle when asked about the subject of the pitter-patter of little feet:

“I mean, I would imagine if we can stay on the air long enough, we probably will see them have a kid. Which, now we’ve seen [at the end of last season]. But I’m more thinking an actual baby, but we’ll see. I’m excited to see what we’re going to do with next year though, with the ‘Mystery Girl.'”

Personally, I’d like to see the series make it to ten seasons so that we can witness the Crisis teased by the newspaper headline introduced all the way back in the pilot episode paid off. By then, I’d imagine that baby Nora will put in an appearance.

The Flash returns for its fifth season on Tuesday, October 9 on The CW.
