Cleganebowl? Game Of Thrones Actor Says “Bring It On!”

Rory McCann (AKA Sandor Clegane/The Hound) has told Den of Geek that he's all for Cleganebowl taking place in Game of Thrones season 8.

Sandor ‘The Hound’ Clegane (AKA the Unkillable Knight) isn’t one to shy away from battle; nor is he known for his brotherly bond with Gregor Clegane/The Mountain (Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson). Add those two factors together and you have the necessary ingredients for Cleganebowl, a mighty duel between the Clegane Brothers that has been brewing for years.

In fact, many viewers assumed that Game of Thrones‘ season 7 finale, “The Dragon and the Wolf,” would have pit those two titans against one another, particularly after that steely exchange in the Dragon’s Pit, in which The Hound provoked his oversized sibling by rendering him the uglier of the two.

But Cleganebowl remains on the back-burner…for now. Asked about his view on the seemingly inevitable dust-up between the two Cleganes, actor Rory McCann (The Hound) told Den of Geek:

I’ve heard of this Cleganebowl. Bring it on! I’ve met [Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, who plays The Mountain] a couple of times and he’s a big boy, I think I’d be the Jack Russell sort of [growls and mimes dodging about] so yeah. It’d be interesting if it happened.

Those familiar with the Game of Thrones story will know that Gregor is responsible for his younger brother’s facial scars, and that’s something Rory McCann’s fan-favorite isn’t about to forget in a hurry.

It’s what drives the Hound still. [He’s] reminded every day with his burned face of why he’s like that and it’s shaped his character so it’ll be amazing if we met and [Cleganebowl] happens, but we’ll see.

Perhaps the Game of Thrones creators have reserved the so-called Cleganebowl for the eighth and final season? We’ll find out when it begins sometime in 2019. Filming is expected to commence in October, so you can readily expect the first batch of set photos to emerge before the year’s end.
