Twitter is alive with the sounds of war and dragonfire, as the four corners of the Internet discuss last week’s Game of Thrones installment.
Cities fell, dynasties collapsed, and a mad queen rose above the fire and flames. Her name? Daenerys Targaryen, who took a leaf from her father’s book and sacked King’s Landing, resulting in one of the show’s more disturbing moments. Enraged by recent events, Emilia Clarke’s Mother of Dragons – or, rather, Dragon – descended into a genocidal maniac and killed thousands of innocent people, as her quest for the Iron Throne took a dark turn.
Jon Snow, her nephew, was distraught. Tyrion was aghast. Twitter, on the other hand, quickly nominated the person capable of killing the Mad Queen so that her reign is brought to a swift, satisfying end. No surprise here – it’s Arya Stark. She’s already killed someone with blue eyes (the Night King) and someone with brown eyes; all that’s left is for Arya to kill someone with green eyes (i.e. Dany) and the prophecy is fulfilled.
It’s by no means official, but people are already beginning to suspect that Dany is next to die by Arya’s blade. Just see the Tweet below for but one example of what’s circulating on social media.

Again, we should stress that this is merely conjecture for now. Besides, Game of Thrones season 8 has been a whirlwind of left-turns and strange character moments, so it’d be foolish to assume that series showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are about to bend to fan service.
HBO’s Song of Ice and Fire draws to a close this Sunday, May 19th, when Game of Thrones airs its final episode. The Powers That Be are already plotting a prequel series set 10,000 years before Dany and Co., but at least for now, this is the beginning of the end.
