Straight from the bowels of Braavos’ Hall of Faces, HBO has today premiered a series of new character posters for Game of Thrones season 6.

Featuring both the living and the dead – including a certain Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch – the images are really a timely reminder of Westeros’ bloody legacy, and that’s a timeline that will only continue to grow darker and darker with the premiere of April’s new season.

Arriving mainly via HBO’s official Game of Thrones Twitter feed, each character still was tethered with one of their respective quotes – so, for instance, Emilia Clarke’s Mother of Dragons is quoted as saying “I will do what queens do. I will rule.” Though considering Daenerys Targaryen was last seen lost with only Drogon for company, it’ll be some time yet before the would-be queen of Westeros is back on her quest for glory.

Included in the gallery below are character posters for Jamie Lannister, Cersei Lannister (via The Hollywood Reporter), Melisandre, the dead faces of Joffrey, former King of the North Robb Stark (via TV Line), Catelyn Stark (via IGN) and Oberyn Martell (AKA the Red Viper). Finally, there’s also a shot of Sansa Stark (via Variety).

Game of Thrones season 6 roars to life on April 24, and you can check in with the show’s leading players via the ominous gallery below.
