Starz’s rip-roaring Evil Dead TV spinoff hit screens last year, surprising both diehard fans and newbies alike with its careful balance of humor and gore. Come on, this is Ash Vs. Evil Dead – it’s in the title! A sequel series revisiting the beloved one-armed Deadite killer was never going to be without the requisite buckets of blood. Partly because of its origins and partly because franchise creator Sam Raimi is involved in the production.
All around the first season was a huge success, with the sophomore season looking to double down on that same winning formula by regrouping its main gang of Ghostbeaters. The first promo image from the pending season was released today and features our intrepid core trio of Bruce Campbell, Ray Santiago and Dana DeLorenzo. Off to the side is Lucy Lawless’ villainous Ruby, who puts the kibosh on Ash’s plans for overcoming the Deadite threat.
When we last saw the titular buffoon, he’d made a temporary stop in Florida for a momentary break from all the bloodshed. Still, even Ash can’t party forever when there’s a serious chance of a Deadite resurgence, leaving behind the beer-chugging antics of Gainesville for his hometown. Where there’s Deadites aplenty.
Ash Vs. Evil Dead returns to Starz later this year for another ten-episode run.
