Whether The Flash will deliver a twist on that origin story remains to be seen, but we get our first fleeting glimpse of the character that producers have described as a “speed demon” in the promo above. Also included is a very fun exchange between Barry and his Earth-2 counterpart, Jay Garrick, as they compare nicknames (the “Scarlet Speedster” and the “Crimson Comet”).

Season two of The Flash picks up months after the Singularity attacked Central City, as Barry is still struggling to forgive himself for Eddie’s death. Concerned about putting his friends in danger, Barry has pushed everyone away and has chosen to protect the city on his own. When a meta-human named Atom Smasher attacks the city, Iris tells our protagonist that he needs to let his friends help him protect the citizens of Central City. Meanwhile, Cisco helps Joe with his Meta Task Force.

The Flash returns to The CW on October 6th with “The Man Who Saved Central City.”
