Good news, everyone! We finally have a teaser and release date for the ‘Futurama’ revival

It's gonna be fun on a bun!

Hulu is going to have a lot of new subscribers waving their wallets in their faces and screaming “shut up and take my money!” this summer as the much-anticipated Futurama revival is almost here. The streaming platform has finally dropped our first teaser for the return of the Planet Express crew, as well as promising us exactly when we can expect to journey back to New New York. Catch the surprisingly jam-packed 17-second trailer above.

Although things were touch and go there for a while, Futurama brings back the full ensemble voice cast from the show’s previous 140 episodes (plus four straight-to-DVD movies) that aired from 1999 to 2013. Namely, Billy West (Fry/Professor Farnsworth/Zoidberg), Katey Sagal (Leela), John DiMaggio (Bender), Tress MacNeille (Mom), Maurice LaMarche (Kif), Lauren Tom (Amy), Phil LaMarr (Hermes), and David Herman (Scruffy, the janitor).

On top of all those mentioned above, the teaser previews the comebacks of other fan favorites like Zapp Brannigan, Robot Santa, Calculon, and of course the adorable Nibbler of the Nibblonians. Sure enough, the official synopsis promises that everything fans have been wondering about all these years will finally be answered in the near episodes, including the time-sensitive mystery of Amy and Kif’s kids.

“New viewers will be able to pick up the series from here, while long-time fans will recognize payoffs to decades-long mysteries – including developments in the epic love story of Fry and Leela, the mysterious contents of Nibbler’s litter box, the secret history of evil Robot Santa, and the whereabouts of Kif and Amy’s tadpoles. Meanwhile there’s a whole new pandemic in town as the crew explores the future of vaccines, bitcoin, cancel culture, and streaming TV.”

The Futurama revival — which can technically be labeled season 11 due to the complicated way past runs have been released (the show was canceled twice before, remember) — is officially titled “season eight.” It’ll consist of 10 episodes, but don’t worry — more are on the way as Hulu originally ordered 20 episodes when it first announced the show’s return in Feb. 2022. You’ll be able to Seymour of your future faves when the new run unfreezes onto our screens on July 24.
