‘Good Omens’ season 2 trailer finds Aziraphale and Crowley returning to save Heaven, Hell, and Earth

Some heavenly trouble is afoot.

Good Omens fans have been dying to see the continuation of Aziraphale and Crowley’s story, but they won’t have to wait much longer. Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s characters are coming back with a bang, ready for a new journey of hijinks, as revealed in the season 2 official trailer.

The premiere date for the new season has recently been unveiled, and of course, a trailer release was the natural progression. The almost two-minute video dropped today, and in it, we can get a glimpse of what kind of trouble will find the protagonists this time. After Earth was saved from an apocalypse of biblical proportions in the season 1 finale, our favorite angel and demon duo will seemingly contend with a smaller-scale issue: the disappearance of the Archangel Gabriel. The catch? He’s not really gone, but rather hiding away from Heaven… in Aziraphale’s bookshop. Needless to say, this spells disaster.

While the reason for Gabriel’s escape has not yet been made clear, his words in the trailer offer a little insight into what might be going on with this servant of Heaven:

“You know what it’s like when you don’t know anything at all, and yet you’re totally certain that everything would be better if you were just near one particular person?”

It’s difficult to say whether this feels more like a midlife crisis or a romantic issue for Gabriel, but whatever it is, we’ll surely be in for a ride. Judging by Aziraphale’s reaction to the Archangel’s question, though, it looks like the Ineffable Husbands enthusiasts will finally get what they want.

It’s obviously still early to tell how Aziraphale and Crowley’s relationship will develop, but as we inch closer to season two, some valid concerns on the subject are being raised. Here’s to hoping Neil Gaiman finds a way to do the characters, the material, and its fans justice.

Season 2 of Good Omens will grace Earth on July 28.
