Similar to the source material, various supervillains will carve out their own territories, as the likes of Mr. Freeze, Firefly, Scarecrow and Penguin will each have a niche to call their own. As such, one would imagine that they’d prefer to have their underlings don uniforms similar to their own attire because, as you know, bad guys tend to have big egos.

Still, there are some factions in town that have mystified us, namely the one sharing visual similarities with the Court of Owls. And if they weren’t enough, executive producer Danny Cannon shared the group seen below on his Instagram page.

Right now, your guess is as good as mine as to whom these guys may be, but it looks like Gotham will be taking inspiration from The Warriors when the story picks up, to draw a parallel. Come to think of it, this could be the gang that Bruce Wayne will rally in a way similar to the Sons of the Batman found in Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns, though we can’t be too sure until one of the producers give confirmation – or until it’s actually showtime.

Gotham returns for its fifth season sometime in early 2019 on Fox.
