New Gotham Promo Teases Mr. Freeze’s Return

In just a matter of days, all will be well when Gotham returns with its much anticipated spring premiere. And, beyond that, the remainder of season 4 looks to be quite exciting as well, with Cameron Monaghan returning as Jerome Valeska, new actors filling the roles of Scarecrow and Poison Ivy, and a soon-to-be resurrected Ra's al Ghul, among other appearances to look forward to.

Now, if the latest promo to be circulated is any indication, another one of Batman’s more popular villains will be stopping by as well. We say that because the brief video package seen above is captioned with “Fire and ice, anyone?,” outright teasing a return to be made by Mr. Freeze.

Having been played by Nathan Darrow since his introduction back in season 2, this iteration of Victor Fries has actually made me rather proud as a longtime fan of the character. The producers may have strayed away from canon with him, sure, but this representation is more in line with what I’d expect from the character in live action rather than, say, what the timeless classic that was Batman & Robin had to offer.

And since the teaser was labeled “fire and ice,” one has to wonder if Mr. Freeze’s sometimes tag team partner in Firefly will be in tow. After all, we’ve seen those juxtaposing baddies team up on Penguin’s behalf several times in the past, so maybe there’s more to come.
