New Gotham Season 5 Featurette Teases Bruce Wayne’s Destiny

In the past few weeks, Fox has done a fine job of recapturing the interest of Gotham fans with a variety of promos teasing what's to come for the heroes and villains making up the insane city. If you require a few examples, feel free to look back on the one showing what Scarecrow has been up to, or take a peek at Jeremiah Valeska appearing evermore Joker-like.

Now, with the premiere being exactly four weeks away, the network has let loose a nifty little featurette showing key members of the principal cast discussing what’s next for their respective characters. Naturally, they don’t spoil everything, though it’s gratifying to get the word straight from the horse’s mouth, if you will.

So, if you check out the video embedded at the top of this article, know that David Mazouz (Bruce Wayne), Ben McKenzie (Jim Gordon), Erin Richards (Barbara Kean), Chris Chalk (Lucius Fox), Camren Bicondova (Selina Kyle), Robin Lord Taylor (Oswald Cobblepot) and Cory Michael Smith (Edward Nygma) each clue us in on how the events of “No Man’s Land” affected their own characters. In fact, it’s appropriate that they do because these folks are among those who’ve stuck around longest.

Of course, anything about Bruce is bound to draw attention because he’ll finally become Batman once the series concludes in the spring. In the meantime, though, expect for the burgeoning vigilante to become quite proactive in taking back the city from the criminal element.

Elsewhere in the “blink and you’ll miss it department” are glimpses at Scarecrow, the Mutants and other baddies set to plague those who didn’t evacuate. Fortunately, there are a few brief teasers of Jeremiah tucked in around the end, including Ecco, the not-Harley Quinn to his not-Joker. Right now, I’m not willing to rule out the word “Joker” being spoken before the final credits role, but I’m reasonably certain Margot Robbie is holding tightly to the Harley moniker, so don’t get your hopes up there.

Gotham returns for its fifth season on Thursday, January 3rd on Fox.
