New Gotham Synopsis Teases Magpie’s Debut

Over the past few years, I've repeatedly commended Gotham for bringing a host of Batman villains who've never been adapted to live action to the small screen. To list off a few, the likes of Hugo Strange, Professor Pyg, Flamingo, Electrocutioner and Azrael can now say they've been welcomed into the same living rooms as Penguin, Riddler, Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy.

Over the past few years, I’ve repeatedly commended Gotham for bringing a host of Batman villains who’ve never been adapted to live action to the small screen. In just a matter of weeks, we’ll be able to add Magpie to that tally, believe it or not. Previously, most of her mainstream exposure had come via Beware the Batman, a wonderful CGI-animated series that was cut short after only one season.

Set to be played by Sarah Schenkkan, this freshly released synopsis for “13 Stitches” gives us our first hint at what to expect from the femme fatale:

Gordon assembles an unlikely team to protect Gotham from Eduardo Dorrance (guest star Shane West) and his Delta Force. Just as Lee Thompkins resurfaces, Barbara reveals shocking news that will change Gordon’s life forever. Meanwhile, Selina and Penguin team up to outsmart fellow villain Magpie (guest star Sarah Schenkkan) in the all-new “13 Stitches” episode of GOTHAM airing Thursday, Feb. 14 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (GTH-506) (TV-14 L,V)

Aside from Magpie’s debut, it looks like Jim Gordon sure does have a lot on his plate. From the sound of it, Eduardo Dorrance isn’t wasting any time before establishing himself as a major threat – even if he still has a few episodes to go before fully becoming Bane.

As for Barbara’s “shocking news that will change Gordon’s life forever,” this is just speculation on my part, but my gut tells me she’s pregnant. If you’ll recall, “Ruin” saw Babs and Jim lock lips after many years apart as lovers, so I’m wondering if this’ll lead to the conception of Barbara Gordon AKA the future Batgirl. If not, we at least have more of Jeremiah’s insanity to enjoy because Cameron Monaghan is on the list of guest stars.

Gotham airs on Thursday nights on Fox, with “13 Stitches” being set to debut on February 14th.
