Hey, remember when Sylvester Stallone joined the MCU in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2? The Rambo and Rocky legend only played a small role in the film as Ravager captain Stakar, but the post-credits scene which united him with his fellow space pirate leaders (more on them in a moment) teased a bigger part for him in the future of the franchise. Maybe even his own Disney Plus TV series, according to a new rumor.
The Lords of the Long Box YouTube channel has been sharing a lot of interesting intel of late, including that Dwayne Johnson could be in the running to play Namor and Deadpool may show up in Avengers 5. Their most recent story though, which we advise taking with the usual grain of salt, goes that Marvel is developing a Guardians 3000 show for Disney’s new streaming service.
The series will apparently feature Stallone as Stakar, alongside the other Ravager captains introduced in Vol. 2 – Michael Rosenbaum as Martinex, Michelle Yeoh as Aleta Ogoord, Ving Rhames as Charlie-27 and Miley Cyrus as Mainframe. They also claim that Pip the Troll could join the group as Vance Astro.
Comic book readers will know that these characters make up the original iteration of the Guardians of the Galaxy. While the 3000 in the title refers to the fact that they hail from the year 3000 on the page, we’re not sure what the number would mean for the MCU version, who are from the here and now.
That’s the name of the project, though, according to the source, but they don’t clarify whether this means we shouldn’t expect to see Stakar and his gang in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 anymore. It’s possible that’ll be the case, though, as despite all those reports pointing to various heroes showing up in the threequel, the original Guardians haven’t been linked to it so far. Maybe this is the route Marvel, and Guardians architect James Gunn will take with the characters in instead, then?
Time will tell, but let us know if a Guardians 3000 show would interest you by dropping a comment down below.
