When Ryan Reynolds decided to join Rob McElhenney in buying a Welsh soccer club near collapse, he was far from imagining the success that could come from the endeavor. Naturally, the two stars wouldn’t have invested so much in this without any hope to restore Wrexham A.F.C.’s former glory, but to make a whole documentary series about it is an entirely different thing. Nevertheless, two years after the purchase, Welcome to Wrexham came to be.
This Ted Lasso-esque docu-series follows the American actors during the first year of Wrexham A.F.C.’s acquisition, depicting all the important moments in their journey to make the club what it is today. Some of these include McElhenney and Reynolds’ first in-person meeting, their first trip to the Wrexham stadium, and their first encounter with the town’s people, who put their trust in the two.
Naturally, fans of both these celebrities, as well as soccer aficionados, may be inclined to watch this docu-series. And they should, as it provides a great behind-the-scenes look at the highs and lows of owning a sports team. Anyone who is worried about how long it would take to watch the whole thing, however, should go in with all the necessary information about Welcome to Wrexham.
How many episodes does Welcome to Wrexham have?
At the time of writing, Welcome to Wrexham only has one season made up of 18 episodes, with runtimes varying from 20 to 47 minutes. The series debuted on Aug 24, 2022, and from then on, a couple of episodes were released every week, until Oct 12 of the same year. As McElhenney already confirmed via Twitter, though, the docu-series will return for a second season, so fans can look forward to new episodes being released sometime in 2023.
For now, viewers will have to make do with just the 18, which are available on several streaming platforms.
