How many games did Ken Jennings win on ‘Jeopardy?’

Is he back as a contestant on 'Jeopardy! Masters?'

When it comes to the biggest Jeopardy winners, Ken Jennings is the ultimate GOAT. And as the popular game show extends its wings with yet another spin-off, Jeopardy! Masters — with Jennings at its heart — it is time to look back at the contestant-turned-host who remains the unbeaten contestant with the highest game-winning streak in one of the longest-running game shows.

Jennings, a long-time fan of Jeopardy and harboring a passion for quizzes, was working as a software engineer back in 2004, when he emerged victorious in his contestant audition for the game show and went on to appear on it the same year in June. But instead of joining the hordes of one-off contestants, Jennings ended up creating a mega record in the history of game shows by winning 74 consecutive games and $2.52 million before being beaten by Nancy Zerg.

From there he went on to appear on late-night shows and wrote many best-sellers like Brainiac, Ken Jennings’s Trivia Almanac, etc. He once again struck gold at a special tournament, Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time, in January 2020, when he Brad Rutter and James Holzhauer to win $1,000,000 first place prize.

Before he was officially made the show’s host (along with Mayim Bialik) in 2022, he joined Jeopardy! as a consulting producer in September 2020 when Alex Trebek offered the same to him and contributed as guest host in 2021.

The spin-off of the popular game show was picked up by ABC and started airing on May 8, 2023. Though the theme of Masters is to pit six remarkable Jeopardy! champions against each other across ten episodes, Jennings is not one of the contestants as only recent names have been chosen for the game.

But Jennings is part of the spin-off as he is the one hosting it. As per the previously announced arrangements post Trebek’s death and the whole Mike Richards controversy, Bialik and Jennings will continue sharing hosting duties for the OG show while the Big Bang Theory star would get to host primetime specials and spin-offs. Evidently, the plans have since changed given that Jennings is helming Jeopardy! Masters.
