The Hunt For A New Black Canary Begins In First Look At Next Week’s Arrow

Well, that was...disappointing? Tonight's episode of Arrow was by no means bad, but the reveal that the Laurel Lance who returned in the midseason premiere was actually Earth-2's Black Siren was underwhelming, to say the least. Sure, the door was left open for her to find redemption, but it appears as if we can forget about seeing the Black Canary in The CW series.

Instead, Oliver Queen is going to hunt down someone else to take over the mantle, and that will seemingly be the woman we met in the episode’s final few minutes. We have no idea who she actually is, but she has powers very similar to Black Siren, a strange coincidence and a potentially hard pill for fans of Laurel to swallow if she does end up joining Team Arrow.

For more on what to expect from “Second Chances,” here’s the official synopsis courtesy of The CW:

In his quest to take down Kovar, Oliver (Stephen Amell) gets help from a surprising source – Talia al Ghul (guest star Lexa Doig). However, when she reveals what she wants from him in exchange, Oliver isn’t sure he can accept her help. Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) attempts to hack the NSA to help free Diggle (David Ramsey) but when her online efforts are flagged, she faces off against an unknown adversary. Meanwhile, Curtis (Echo Kellum) tells the team about a female vigilante, Tina Boland (guest star Juliana Harkavay), he uncovered online who has been wreaking havoc all over the country. Mark Bunting directed the episode written by Speed Weed & Sarah Tarkoff.

Tina Boland is not a character from the source material, so her name provides literally no clues as to what we should expect from this apparent Black Canary. With Artemis deciding to betray her friends in order to side with Prometheus though, the team needs a new member, and it looks like it’s going to be Tina rather than a resurrected Laurel, or even Black Siren.

Whether that’s a good thing or not remains to be seen, but stay tuned for more on next week’s episode of Arrow as we should be getting some additional sneak peeks shortly.
