If you wanted more ‘The Kardashians’ then you’re in luck

The Kardashians will be on our screens for a long time to come.

If you’re one of the many people who love the ‘famous for being famous’ family show The Kardashians, then I have good news. If you’re one of the many, many people who do not find them palatable, you’re not going to like this at all: Hulu has renewed the popular series for 20 more episodes.

I’m not here to tell you why the show is terrible to most and loved by some. I’ve unfortunately watched quite a bit of the show inadvertently (the wife loves it for some reason), but obviously it’s a money maker for the streamer, which conveniently does not release viewing numbers.

The show features Kris Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian Barker, Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner. This iteration of the show debuted in the spring of last year, after the family’s previous show Keeping Up With the Kardashians was on E! for 14 years and 20 seasons.

The news was announced at Disney’s upfronts to entice ad buyers on Tuesday, per The Hollywood Reporter. Hulu initially ordered 40 episodes of the show, and it split them up into 10-episode seasons, meaning we’ll have the show until season six so far.

The hype train for the show has already begun. There’s a Kim Kardashian quote rolling around that the upcoming season of the show was her most “frustrating” because she and sister Kourtney Kardashian were not getting along. Say what you will, they know how to make headlines. Oh, and money. They make a lot of that.

The Kardashians is a much different show than Keeping Up With the Kardashians, which often felt like a sitcom and featured pop culture events and family drama. This one is much tighter. Gone are the goofy lighting and personal flourishes. Now the show is about work and fashion and, that’s about it. There’s not much plot but again, that stuff doesn’t really matter if people are watching.

Look at the Super Mario Bros. Movie as an example. It’s a godawful movie in terms of plot and character development, and I knew that going in but still went to see it on opening night. And I loved it.

Fans of the show will continue to feed on it, which in turn helps revenue come into the studio through advertising dollars. This won’t change in the near future, although you never know. One thing we do know is The Kardashians is here to stay… for now.

The third season of The Kardashians premieres on Hulu on May 25.
