Marvel’s Ghost Rider and Helstrom were recently announced as new live-action series for the streaming platform, where they’ll presumably join Runaways, the teen-centric superhero show that’s now entering its third season. Having portrayed Robbie Reyes throughout Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Gabriel Luna will once again embody the Spirit of Vengeance (h/t Deadline), though such an exciting development has many wondering whether Blade is destined to receive a similar treatment.

For one, yesterday’s announcement alluded to the Spirits of Vengeance – as in ‘spirits’ plural – leading many to believe that Marvel is actually referring to a comic book arc in which Ghost Rider and Eric Brooks/Blade crossed paths. There is, however, every chance that the Powers That Be are referencing Ghost Rider’s other incarnations: Johnny Blaze and Danny Ketch.

Truth be told, Marvel fans have been left longing for a Blade reboot. We know the studio has no immediate plans for Eric Brooks, and may well hold fire until such time as it’s ready to commit to a faithful adaptation of the beloved daywalker. Meanwhile, here’s confirmation via Twitter that Gabriel Luna of S.H.I.E.L.D. fame is back to reprise his role as the vengeful Ghost Rider.

Again, it’s by no means a confirmation, as the ‘Spirits of Vengeance’ could simply be referring to Ghost Rider and his deep-rooted connection with Daimon and Ana Helstrom. Will the two shows at least fare better than Marvel’s Inhumans, though? We’ll find out next year.

As for Eric Brooks, what do you make of this new development? Is there hope for a Blade TV series setting up shop at Hulu? Or do you believe the character is better suited to the big screen? Do let us know.
