Jada Pinkett Smith Takes A Villainous Role In Fox’s Gotham

Jada Pinkett Smith will be taking a villainous role in Fox's upcoming Batman prequel series Gotham. The actress will play a gangster named Fish Monoey, who is the Penguin's boss and is described as an “imposing, hotheaded and notoriously sadistic gangster boss and nightclub owner with street smarts and almost extra-sensory abilities to read people like an open book.” Presumably, she'll make for a formidable opponent for Gotham detectives James Gordon and Harvey Bullock.

Jada Pinkett Smith will be taking a villainous role in Fox’s upcoming Batman prequel series Gotham. The actress will play a gangster named Fish Monoey, who is the Penguin’s boss and is described as an “imposing, hotheaded and notoriously sadistic gangster boss and nightclub owner with street smarts and almost extra-sensory abilities to read people like an open book.” Presumably, she’ll make for a formidable opponent for Gotham detectives James Gordon and Harvey Bullock.

The show, which stars Ben McKenzie as Gordon and acts as an origins tale, will follow the young detective as he works his way up to becoming the Commissioner. While doing so, he’ll have to contend with several of Gotham’s most famous villains. A young Bruce Wayne, before he donned the cape and cowl to become Batman, will also make an appearance in the series.

Pinkett Smith will join a cast that already includes the aforementioned Ben McKenzie as James Gordon, Donal Logue as Gordon’s partner Harvey Bullock, Zabryna Guevara as their boss Captain Essen, Sean Pertwee as Alfred and Erin Richards as Gordon’s love interest. The role of Bruce Wayne still has not been cast but expect to hear more on that front shortly.
