Kevin Feige Says Loki And Other Disney Plus Shows Will Connect To The MCU

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to be expanded in a whole new, exciting way. With the debut of the Disney Plus streaming service, Marvel Studios will be creating exclusive content for the site which will take the form of a series of limited TV shows that are expected to have big budgets and feature characters - and sometimes actors - from the movies. For instance, a Loki solo series is the project furthest in development.

As this sounds, the expectation is that these shows will be much more closely tied into the wider MCU than the previous Marvel TV efforts. In fact, while speaking to ComicBook.com, Kevin Feige confirmed that the Disney Plus shows will be connected to the franchise, teasing that they may take place at various points across the timeline.

“These will be Marvel Studios productions. They will be entirely interwoven with both the current MCU, the past MCU, and the future of the MCU.”

Feige’s likely choosing his words very carefully here. From what we know about the Loki series, for instance, his description could be spot-on. After all, the show about the God of Mischief’s reported to be based around the Asgardian trickster’s exploits throughout history, mingling with society and influencing key events in the process. With a premise like that, there should be loads of opportunities to link into the wider map of the MCU.

As for the other projects in the works, Feige’s comments may suggest that some will be set after Avengers: Endgame and others before it. For example, Vision and the Scarlet Witch could take place in the present or perhaps it’ll explore the couple’s time together before Avengers: Infinity WarThe same goes for the likes of the Winter Soldier and Falcon show, the Rocket and Groot spinoff or any of the other ones rumored to be happening.

First up, though, we have Loki to look forward to, which is expected to arrive at earliest in late 2019 or perhaps 2020.
