Killer Frost Will Return To The Flash Very Soon

The Flash season 4 has seen another major shift in Caitlin Snow's personality. Last season, due to Barry's meddling with the timeline, Caitlin found herself developing ice powers which also came with a whole other identity - that of the villainous metahuman Killer Frost. In the season 4 premiere, it was revealed that Caitlin's split personality had progressed to something like Marvel's Hulk - Killer Frost would come out if she felt heightened emotion.

The Flash season 4 has seen another major shift in Caitlin Snow’s personality. Last season, due to Barry’s meddling with the timeline, Caitlin found herself developing ice powers which also came with a whole other identity – that of the villainous metahuman Killer Frost. In the season 4 premiere, it was revealed that Caitlin’s split personality had progressed to something like Marvel’s Hulk – Killer Frost would come out if Caitlin felt heightened emotion.

So far, this plotline has been pushed to the background, but we’ve now learned that Caitlin’s other half will return in episode 5, titled “Girls’ Night Out.” And, as opposed to other characters like Barry and Cisco who have talked Dr. Snow around in previous installments, this time it will be up to Iris to save the day.

In a recent interview, Danielle Panabaker told EW the following:

“When Killer Frost shows up, Iris has a lot of compassion for Killer Frost and a lot of compassion for Caitlin and is pivotal in helping Caitlin reconcile herself with her past and some of the mistakes that Killer Frost made.”

The fact that Iris is the one to help Caitlin is an interesting but welcome twist. Fans have often said before that they would like the two ladies of STAR Labs to form a closer bond than they currently have and it looks like The Flash writers are planning on taking that on board this season. This follows on from the increased role Candice Patton’s had throughout the show this year, after last season left her as little more than a damsel in distress.

The episode will also see a guest appearance for Arrow‘s Emily Bett Rickards, as Felicity Smoak crosses over from Star City to attend Iris’ bachelorette party ahead of the “WestAllen” wedding that will occur in the big four-way Arrowverse crossover. Katee Sackhoff is also joining the cast for this episode as the villainous Amunet, and you can check out the official synopsis for “Girls’ Night Out” below:

Having received an ominous threat from her old boss, Amunet (guest star Katee Sackhoff), Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) fears that her past time as Killer Frost may be back to haunt her. Felicity (guest star Emily Bett Rickards) comes to Central City to help the girls celebrate Iris’s (Candice Patton) bachelorette party, while Cisco (Carlos Valdes), Joe (Jesse L. Martin) and the guys take Barry out for a night on the town.

The Flash airs every Tuesday on The CW.
