While Thanos continues his rule over the MCU, over on Marvel’s TV universe, there’s only one character who possesses the same sense of gravitas and bone-rattling terror – Wilson Fisk.

Better known to you, I and the people of Hell’s Kitchen as the Kingpin, Vincent D’Onofrio’s scenery-chewing baddie has terrorized Daredevil from the get-go, and while season 2 toyed around with a possible team-up between Fisk and Frank Castle (AKA the Punisher), the show’s upcoming third season will welcome Kingpin back to the fray in a big, big way.

Leaked set photos from in and around New York City have already revealed the character’s exchange with Karen Page, not to mention the fact that he’ll be standing trial at some point during Daredevil season 3. But strip away all of the wealth and the fancy suits and you have a character who’s in a “constant state of emergency.”

Or so says Vincent D’Onofrio:

The thing about Fisk… He is in a constant state of emergency when he is not near Venessa [sic]. When he can not reach out to her, touch her. He is a walking talking monument of power. Emotional rage leans into him. Pressing against him always. He is the great white whale of New York.

Those comments can be traced back to the actor’s Twitter feed (h/t ComicBook.com), where he posted a short profile of Kingpin and, more specifically, what makes him tick. So it shouldn’t be all that surprising, then, that the character struggles to cope without Vanessa Marianna (Ayelet Zurer) by his side.

The third season of Marvel’s Daredevil will be with us sometime before the year’s end, at which point the Man Without Fear will be going up against Bullseye.
