Legends Of Tomorrow Adds Maisie Richardson-Sellers As The New Vixen

We already knew that Vixen would be suiting up as a new series regular when DC's Legends of Tomorrow returns for its sophomore season, but that it wouldn't be actress Magalyn E.K. in the costume, nor would it be the Mari McCaabe character. Now, TV Line reports that The Originals actress Maisie Richardson-Sellers has been cast as a new incarnation of the animalistic superheroine, Amaya Jiwe.

We already knew that Vixen would be suiting up as a new series regular when DC’s Legends of Tomorrow returns for its sophomore season, but that it wouldn’t be actress Magalyn E.K. in the costume, nor would it be the Mari McCaabe character. Now, TV Line reports that The Originals actress Maisie Richardson-Sellers has been cast as a new incarnation of the animalistic superheroine, Amaya Jiwe.

According to the site, Amaya will actually be McCaabe’s grandmother, which confirms that Rip Hunter will use his time-bending abilities to recruit the newest addition to the crew of The Waverider.

Apparently, E.K. couldn’t reprise the role because of prior commitments  – she’ll continue to voice Vixen on The CW Seed animated series and she also has a role in the upcoming sorority comedy Step Sisters to shoot, as well as several other potential big screen projects – but this does leave the door open for the actress to return once her workload lightens a little.

Legends of Tomorrow will be back for its second season, with Vixen in tow, this Fall on The CW.
