Legends Of Tomorrow Season 3 Trailer Debuts, Captain Cold And Damien Darhk To Return

By now, you've probably seen countless memes lampooning Barry Allen for his constant messing with the timeline over on The Flash, but if anyone is supremely guilty of doing such a thing, it's most definitely the Waverider crew on Legends of Tomorrow. I mean, for a group tasked with fixing "time aberrations," you'd think they wouldn't kill people in the past all the freaking time. Thus, it surprises none of us that they "broke time" in the season 2 finale.

As we can see from the footage shown at San Diego Comic-Con, the gang will do their best to rectify that mistake. But according to executive producer Phil Klemmer, this will be a marathon, not a sprint:

“We won’t fix time immediately but we’ll see how dinosaurs in Los Angeles happened. Last season, Legends were the only game in town. Now, Rip Hunter has constituted a new version of what Time Hunters are. Now, Legends are up against the best and brightest.”

Aside from what sounds like ambiguous big bads, viewers can look forward to seeing two-fourths of the Legion of Doom returning, albeit in different capacities. One will be Damien Darhk, with the other being fan favorite Captain Cold.

When it comes to those differences, expect Darhk to “be a little less silly and a little more formidable.” In the past, Neil McDonough likened the character to Gene Hackman’s Lex Luthor, so, to continue drawing parallels, maybe we’ll see something more akin to Michael Rosenbaum’s Lex come this fall?

As for Captain Cold, the producers said, “we are very excited to bring Wentworth [Miller] back to the show in a different iteration of Mr. Snart.” I guess we’ll have to tune in to see what that means, but if the creative minds behind the series continue tinkering with varying iterations of Snart, they’ll end up breaking time themselves. Maybe they should’ve kept it simple and not have killed him in the first season.

Legends of Tomorrow returns for its third season on Tuesday, October 10 on The CW.
