Like many Marvel comics characters, Power Man, AKA Luke Cage, has his very own catchphrase. Fans of Cage’s comic exploits will have seen him utter the words “sweet Christmas!” on numerous occasions in the pages of Heroes For Hire and various other titles, and now you can hear the actor who’ll be playing the superhero in Marvel and Netflix’s TV series, Mike Colter, say it during an interview snippet with ComicBook.com.

Further in the interview, the actor explains that although there’s a lot of potential for the catchphrase to come across a bit cheesy, it works well in the context of how it’s used on the show. He also describes his apprehension at seeing the classic yellow duds and silver headband that Cage sported in his early comic appearances.

“I was afraid of that phrase, but it actually fits so well, I don’t know why, I don’t know why it fits so well into Luke’s mouth. It’s appropriate, always apropos. When I saw the tiara, all the 1970s blackspoitation stuff, I was like, ‘oh my God…’ But they assured me, ‘that’s not what we’re doing, we’re doing a modern day version.’ But yeah, [Luke Cage is] production-codenamed ‘Tiara’. It’s so funny. We’re gonna give them what they want, though.”

Colter will make his debut as Luke Cage in Jessica Jones next month, before appearing in his own Netflix series sometime next year.
